Yesterday, His Majesty The King unveiled the new S Yesterday, His Majesty The King unveiled the new SCOTS statue at West Princes Street Gardens, Edinburgh, marking 20 years of the Royal Regiment of Scotland - the result of a project nearly three years in the making. Sculptor @realkennyhunter 's bronze lion rests on a plinth built from six sections of our Howley Park sandstone, supplied and shaped by us here at Hutton Stone, each one representing one of the six historic Scottish Army Regiments that merged two decades ago to form SCOTS. The stone was carved by @jackhandscombe, built by @gbrownstonemason, and the lion itself cast by @powderhall_bronze. We supplied Darney and Howley Park sandstone for t We supplied Darney and Howley Park sandstone for the stone kit of parts for From Life Cycle to the Next - a reuse workshop at London Festival of Architecture, run by @cskarchitectsuk and @thebartlettucl on behalf of @cityoflondoncorp and @cheapsideba, with support from @urban_learners. This hands on event explored the material life cycle of a stone block as it travels from mountain to workshop, to building site, and then onto many cycles of reuse in different buildings over hundreds of years and beyond.
